This is the crossroads, A nice
welcoming inn in the summer wine country. serving excellent beers, food, and
wine. in comfortable surroundings.

The well stocked bar keeps a fine
selection of Yorkshire beers,
With guest beers and fine wines.

The staff are all very helpful and
friendly,
With an extensive restaurant to the
side,

And a large garden, and kids area to
the rear

The menu is good solid Yorkshire
food, at well affordable prices.

My wife and I paid a return visit, on
16/7/2009.
choosing from the pensioners specials
we ordered.
Gammon for myself and chicken dinner
for my wife.

The seniors portions are large and
very tasty. (bootifull)
and some change from
a fiver.
My view is there are going to be some
very chubby pensioners around.
The main menu is, well set out with
something for everybody,

the pub has an old world feel, with
oak beams it is traditional.

The food is superb here it has to be
said, seasoned and cooked to perfection, with a well stocked bar of fine
ales & wines.
food is from a varied menu, with
something to suit all tastes.

On our visit today we chose.
fish pie for my wife.
and crispy pork belly for myself.

these are large portions. and will
satisfy the best of appetites
both meals came with, a selection of
fresh veg and home cooked chips.
the fish pie is delightful with a
large fresh piece of crabmeat in centre.
While the pork was complimented with
its own gravy boat. and a small pot of apple chunks gently poached in red
wine and star anise syrup.
in addition to the main pub area, is
a spacious modern conservatory.
light and airy.

The present owners have been here
over 5 years, and provide a service second to none.
in addition the pub caters for b&b

meanwhile visit and enjoy this
marvellous eating experience.

And ROYAL it truly
is.
The building exterior
is by no means imposing, but.
Open the door and
enter one of the smartest restaurants north of London.
On entry is a
comfortable lounge, to order drinks an excellent selection, of beers and
wines all impeccably kept. and served.
To enter the
sumptuous 180 seat restaurant is a true eye opener,

4.30 to 7.30 pm this is
new.
Fridays 5.30 pm to
8.30 is international buffet night.

This place says
Class.

The well trained
staff are excellent, the food is superb, as is the service.
After eating I took
the time too shake hands with the owner Patrick.
Who gave me a grand
tour, of the enormous kitchens, cellars, preparation, rooms, etc, All 100%
spotless, and worthy of the finest
French and London
restaurants.
To sum up the
elephant, To say we where impressed would,
Be a vast
understatement.

This is a grand old pub, serving the
very best English food.
No nouvelle cuisine here, just
quality tasty home made food,
our meal for today, 29/05/2008.
was a Neapolitan pasta for my wife
and a small rack of lamb for me.

Food doesn't get better than this
just a small choice from a very comprehensive menu. all carefully prepared
by the landlady.
booking is advisable.
the pub itself sits in the midst of
pristine walking country.
and has a rustic charm all of its
own.

The menu itself is either set menu or
specials board.
far to numerous dishes for me to
list.
ranging from own produced lamb to
huge seafood thermador's
A very fine selection of beers and
single malt whiskies on offer.
you would need to stay a week to
sample them all.

The landlady, (chef,) is just about
the most industrious person, I have ever met, not only dishing up perfectly
consistent meals, but finds time to bake home made cakes, as well. for you
to purchase.

It has to be said this is the
tastiest of lamb and is home reared and matured humanely on the
pleasant moors and pastures adjacent to the inn there is none better in this
land.

yes I Know its not in the north, but after calling in
for a meal. on wed the 6th of may 2009. I decided it should be on peters
eaters.
The Inn is in the capable hands of mine hosts,
Jackie, and Brendon, Hichens.
This is a typical old Cornish pub, serving top quality
Home cooked food.

On the day of our visit, It was Italian night. with a
tempting specials menu.

Our choice of food was. a duo of fresh Newlyn fish,
Home smoked Haddock, and hake. on a bed of, mashed
cannelloni, beans surrounded by a delicious piquant sauce.

This dish was served on a very large plate, and cooked
to perfection.
Trawling is in the family. so the fish is straight out
of the sea.
and the haddock, smoked in applewood, beautiful.
We wish Jackie and Brendon all the best. for the
future.
